About De Postwagen
De Postwagen has 80 employees and offers a wide range of what they call “moments of happiness,”. From a romantic dinner to a large (themed) party, and from an enchanting wedding to an inspiring lecture. “Our offerings and audience are divers, and the number of guests is large. SEM provides (financial) oversight, ensures smooth communication, helps us work efficiently, and reduces errors,” says Oetze Mulder.
“How does it work in practice? “Guests can book online. And actually, from the moment they hit the send button, almost everything happens automatically. Within a few minutes, we can send a polished quote for a complete wedding. For a dinner or corporate outing reservation, there is a direct connection with the kitchen, the restaurant, the activity providers, and the scheduling system. In short, everyone has the right information and knows what to do. And afterwards, a clear invoice is ready.”
“What’s great about this is that internal communication and coordination run very smoothly. Everyone focusses on what they are good at. There is less stress, fewer mistakes, and as an businessowner, I have access to a well-organized dashboard with clear information that helps me steer the business. I have time to actually run the business. Yes, that truly makes me happy.”
“SEM is also a very stable system,” explains Oetze Mulder. “It always works, and that feels very reliable. As an entrepreneur, you sometimes need new functionalities, especially when your company is growing fast. The number of available modules has increased significantly in recent years. Whenever we have a request, SEM critically assesses whether other clients share the same need. If so, a lot is possible.”
Kitchen management system
De Postwagen developed its own kitchen management system, which is integrated to SEM. “This connection ensures that when an order comes in, for example for a barbecue, it doesn’t just notify the reservation system, staff planning, and accounting. There’s also a direct connection to the ingredient supplier, and the order is automatically broken down into components. With a single click, the kitchen staff knows exactly what needs to be done.”
“As a result, we can purchase ingredients more efficiently, spend less time on administrative tasks, and respond more quickly to changes or cancellations. The kitchen is less focused on paperwork, there’s less confusion, and tasks are transparent to everyone.” Over the past twenty years, De Postwagen has grown from a village pub to the hotspot of Northern Netherlands, with a covered activity arena, a cozy à la carte restaurant, versatile wedding halls, and unique overnight accommodations. “The days of paper calendars and handwritten notes are long behind us. SEM, together with the integration of our kitchen management system, gives us the space we need to continue building our business,” he says enthusiastically.
